  • Gerald Eugene Peters Jr., MD

    Dr. Peters has been practicing Dermatology for over 20 years. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1988, he interned at UC San Francisco’s combined medical and surgical (transitional) program from 1988 to 1989. Dr. Peters then served in the U.S. Air Force as a U-2 Flight Surgeon at Beale AFB, California until 1995. During this time, Dr. (Captain) Peters served as a Hyperbaric Medicine specialist at several classified Operating Locations, as well as in Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Desert Calm.

    From 1995 to 1998, Dr. Peters completed his Dermatology residency at San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (US Air Force/US Army) in 1998. He then invested a full year in surgical fellowship training in Cutaneous Oncology, Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology with Dr. J. Michael Wentzell, MD, after which Dr. Peters was accepted as a Fellow in the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) and received Dr. Wentzell’s endorsement.

    Before opening Peters Dermatology Center, Dr. Peters served as Staff Dermatologist at a variety of prestigious medical centers, including Wilford Hall Medical Center, San Antonio Texas (where he served as co-chief resident), Ramstein Air Force Base/Landstuhl Army Medical Center in Germany, Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California, Diablo Dermatology in Antioch, California, Deaconess Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana, and most recently as Mohs Surgeon at Bend Memorial Clinic, where he served the Central Oregon community for more than a decade.

    Dr. Peters has a wealth of experience, including over 14,000 cases of Mohs Micrographic surgery, with about 1,200 cases per year over the last several years.

    Dr. Peters has also completed the following laser training:

    • Candela Vascular Lesion Laser, Model 1B (pulsed dye laser)
    • Sharplan High Energy Pulsed Carbon Dioxide Laser
    • Frequency doubled, Q-switched Nd:YAG Laser
    • Flashlamp-pumped Pulsed Dye Laser
    • Eclipse Photoderm VL/PL
    • Coherent Versapulse HELP G

    Dr. Peters also has extensive laser training and experience dating back to his undergraduate training at the University of California, Irvine, where he conducted research at the Beckman Laser Lab with Dr. Michael Berns and Dr. Alan Wile. During medical school, Dr. Peters was fortunate to work under the direction and guidance of Dr. Leon Goldman, who is known as the “Father of Lasers in Medicine” for his pioneering work in the field. During the mid-to late-1980’s, Dr. Goldman’s Laser Laboratory in Cincinnati, Ohio was one of the foremost leaders in this field.

    Dr. Peters is proud to have formed his fundamental knowledge base in this high-level environment. Since then, Dr. Peters’ laser training and experience include such diverse platforms as Candela’s Pulsed Dye Vascular lasers, Sharplan’s High Energy Pulsed CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser, Frequency-doubled, Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers, Flashlamp-pumped Pulsed Dye Laser, Coherent Versapulse HELP-G Laser and the Eclipse Photoderm VL/PL intense pulsed light device.

    Dr. Peters is active in our community. He has completed skin cancer screenings every year since 2006 and has taught skin cancer prevention to students and parents at several schools in our community. He lives in Bend with his wife, Antonia, who works side-by-side with him at Peters Dermatology, and with their two sons, Luke and Jake.

  • Ann M. Reitan, MHS, PA-C

    Ann Reitan has been caring for patients for more than 25 years. After completing the Accredited Physician Assistant Program and earning her Master of Health Science Degree at Duke University School of Medicine (she graduated with honors), Ann worked at Bend Memorial Clinic from 1994-2016. She began in the Urgent Care Center then transitioned to infectious diseases before joining Dr. Peters at his Bend Memorial Clinic practice in 2010.

    In 2016, Ann joined Dr. Peters in his newly opened Peters Dermatology Center. Here, she continues to work closely with Dr. Peters on skin cancer screenings, biopsies, excisions, surgical and after-care for Mohs patients, and more. Like Dr. Peters, she is committed to providing exceptional care to all patients, with a special focus on skin cancer treatment and prevention for high-risk patients.

    Ann is certified by the American Academy of Physicians Assistants. She has also received specialized training in cutaneous surgery.

    Ann has served our community in a variety of ways over the years, including working at Volunteers in Medicine from 2004-2010, sharing her time and talent with local Boy Scout Troop 21, and has volunteered for Deschutes County Sheriff Office Search and Rescue.

    Ann enjoys biking, hiking and camping with her son, Christian.

  • Ericka Luckel, MPAS, PA-C

    Ericka studied Anthropology at the University of California, Davis where she received her Bachelor of Arts in 1995. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the Anthropology Departmental Citation. In 2004, she graduated with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the Oregon Health and Science University Physician Assistant Program in Portland, earning the Award for Academic Achievement. She developed a love for dermatology and orthopedics while in P.A. school and is proud to have been an orthopedic P.A. at The Center in Bend where she worked for 13 years, both in a clinical and surgical setting. 

    In July of 2017, she joined Peters Dermatology Center and has been practicing in this setting ever since. Her focus is primarily on skin cancer and skin cancer prevention, cutaneous surgery, and laser treatment of vascular lesions, including small facial and leg vessels, angiomas, and the redness caused by rosacea. She enjoys the relationship she develops with patients and strives to empower patients with knowledge regarding their skin health.

    In her spare time, Ericka enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, as well as mountain and road biking, running, camping, and traveling.
